There are many different skills that are needed to work in a certain field of expertise. Everyone that works in these fields have the 7 skills that are needed. When a company is looking at you in an interview or reading your resume, they will all look to see if you have this set of skills that are so important to them. These skills include:

Experience in the field:These companies are looking for experienced people that have been in the field before and know what is going on throughout the field. Some will give a set amount of years like 5 years of experience in the field.

Computer skills:Computer skills are so important today. Everything we do and run is somewhere on a computer. Using computers is something that everyone in the sport management field should be able to do. Using programs like Word, Excel, Power Point ect. Twitter and Facebook are also very important to understand.

Bachelors Degree or Masters Degree:This is what most companies are going to look for besides experience. Having your Bachelors Degree or your Masters Degree shows that you completed the necessary schooling and that you have a general understanding of the sport management field.

3.0 or higher GPA:Companies want to see that you did well in school. They want to feel safe about hiring you. Bigger companies need something that will turn away a lot of applicants due to the fact that so many people want to join. They also want to know that their workers are highly skilled and capable of maintaining that skill

Work as a team:I saw this many times in a lot of job descriptions. Working as a team member is very important to the sports industry as you are always working with people and around people.

Passion: Surprisingly I have seen this when searching around for different jobs and internships. They say that you must love what you do in order to do your best work. They do not want you working for them just because its a paycheck. They want you to work for them because you love the industry and you want to learn more about the positions as you work for them.

Communication Skills: You must be able to communicate with people. You need to show good communication skills in order to get a position like this. Talking to people and building relationships in order to network is something that is a must in this industry.

There are many skills that you need in order to work in the sport management field and some of the few that I have seen in the PGA and NFL jobs include the things that I talk about above.
